An American Landmark

If you are in search of a place to visit that holds true to American history, is an example of exquisite art, and has a phenomenal view, you should turn to the Statue of Liberty.

The Statue of Liberty is located on Ellis Island off of New Jersey, New York.  The exquisite statue was offered in 1886 to the United States, from the people of France, as a gift representing the friendship that occurred as a result of the American Revolution. Since that time the statue has grown to not only represent friendship, but also freedom and democracy. To this day her 151'5" frame stands proud as a symbol to those entering the United States.

Visiting the Statue of Liberty will be an experience that you will remember forever. From school groups to vacationing families, the Statue of Liberty is one of the most traveled vacation spots in the United States. You will begin your trip with a breathtaking ride on the park ferry. As you approach the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, her majesty becomes evident. This national park is open for your enjoyment from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day of the year except Christmas. Access to the ferry and The Statue of Liberty are free of charge.

Although the entire statue, specifically the crown and torch, is not accessible to the public, there are many exciting sights. Even though you are not able to enter the current crown and torch, you will be treated to seeing the original torch, which has been preserved on a lower floor.

If you are making plans for visiting historic sights, make sure that you include The Statue of Liberty.
