Central Park

Central Park is located in New York City, New York. It is the most visited park in the United States, and several movies have been filmed in the park. The park is maintained by the Central Park Conservancy, which is a non-profit organization. It consists of over 840 acres, with breathtaking views of impressive buildings and landscaping. Central Park has been a National Historic Landmark since 1963.

Central Park activities include running, jogging, bicycling and roller skating. Many known races are held within the park, including the NYC Marathon, which ends their race in the park. There is a large ice skating rink in the winter which converts to a swimming pool in the summer for tourists and neighborhood communities. The summer season hosts a variety of free outdoor concerts with well known stage and screen actors. Some singers include Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, Diana Ross and Garth Brooks. There are horse drawn carriage rides to take visitors through the park’s beautiful landscape areas. Rock climbing is available at a few locations including Rat Rock.  The park consists of 21 unique playgrounds with dozens of activities for children including puppeteer shows. Nature walks are a must to enjoy the wide variety of flowers and even bird watching. The canals of Venice are located in the park, with gondola rides throughout the Central Park canals. Rowing on the lake offers an unforgettable view of the blue waters and surrounding forests.

Any season is a must to visit Central Park. The landscape is spectacular, depicting its many fields and meadows, hills and valleys, ponds and lakes. Even the winter snow laying peaceful on the benches and tree limbs is a beautiful picture of tranquility.
