Eli Manning, drafted with the number one overall pick in 2004 by the New York Giants, has indeed proved to all the critics that he was well worth the investment. While there were, and still are comparisons to his older brother Peyton Manning, Eli has begun to make his own name. Originally he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers, which sparked a lot of conflict, and since then he has yielded great dividends for "Big Blue."
Coming off of one of the most amazing seasons in Giants' history, the Big Blue have begun summer work-outs. As they prepare to make another run at the Super Bowl, they are distancing themselves from last year's success. They don't want their vision for this year to be blurred by basking in the glory of last year's accomplishments. It seems that the Giants are poised to dominate the upcoming season.
Even though the Giants lost a couple of players in the off-season, to help boost their roster they added some key pieces. Many of the fans sing praises to the organization for drafting Kenny Phillips in the first-round. The University of Miami is known for producing outstanding safeties in the NFL, and many speculate that Kenny is the next great one from "The U."
Because of his performance in the 40-yard dash at the combines, Mario Manningham, a deep-threat receiver out of Michigan, fell out of the first-round. This is just what the Giants had hoped for, because he was one of the receivers on their draft board from the start. With these players and a couple more, the Big Blue has reloaded in the draft, and is ready to take on all of its opponents.
