The New York Yankees are one of the most popular and well known franchises in all of sports. Led by the Steinbrenner family, they have also been one of the most successful, if not the most successful professional team of all-time. "The Boss" demands success, and most of the time the team has delivered.

The Yankees are a professional baseball team whose hometown is the Bronx in New York City, New York. They are a member of the eastern division in the American League of Major League Baseball. They play their home games in the famous Yankee Stadium and are on of the eight charter franchises in the American League. When one thinks of a team that breeds success, the Yankees are often the first team that comes to mind. They are the most successful team to ever play in MLB, with 26 world titles and 39 American League Pennants. They have had some of the most popular and best players of all-time be a part of their team, with such players as Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Reggie Jackson, Roger Clemens, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, to name a few. Their success and big name players have brought much recognition and have also brought on its share of controversy.

Joe Girardi is trying to return the Yankees to the top of MLB, as the team has failed to win a championship since 2000. Every year the team is expected to win it all, not only by the fans, but by the owner as well. The team is under constant pressure and criticism, so Girardi and the team are hoping this is the year to end the drought.
