The Broadway theatre district in Manhattan is one of the main draws for both tourists and locals alike in New York City. The standard run is 8 shows a week, for as long as a show is turning a profit. Historically, musicals have been more successful than non-musicals. The record for the longest running Broadway show is held by Phantom of the Opera, which has been playing since 1988.
