The historic Brooklyn Children’s Museum opened to the public in 1899. It was a museum built especially for kids, and it led the world in originality by being the first of its kind. Children can visit a display in which they can experience real life in a New York City atmosphere. Here children of all backgrounds can live, work, and play together.
New York City, known for some of the best pizza in the world, allows children in the museum to act like they are working in a pizza parlor and get a chance to serve it to family and friends. A petting zoo or animal display allows children to touch and experience animal behavior.
The Museum of American Finance has an interesting exhibit on the history of money. This museum shows what American money looks like since the Dutch arrived in Manhattan. You are able to feel cash and coins that have been around since the beginning of our country’s start. Also, a visitor can observe what helps deter counterfeiting in our currency by observing money through an ultraviolet light system. Gold, coins, paper money and scrip are on display for view and touch so that you can actually be a part of what our country negotiates with for trade.
Another great museum to visit is The Museum of the City of New York. This museum houses an exhibit about the history of Broadway and Theater in New York City. Here you will find the most world renowned theater collection. There are photographs, costumes, and drawings of the most historic creations that were ever on Broadway. Then you will experience exhibits that tell the stories of many entrepreneurs, performers, designers, and songwriters.
