Flushing Meadows
was once a swamp, and an ash dump, but now it is a very well known park in Queens, and a great place to bike, run, or even relax. FlushingMeadowsCoronaPark
is between Flushing and Corona,
New York. This 1,255 acre park
has historical, recreational and environment significance. This former dumping ground was called “valley
of ashes”. This has become Queens’s largest park, and one of New York City’s flagship parks. This park is
surrounded by athletic fields, bike paths, and picnic areas.
The
Queens Zoo is dedicated to protecting and breeding endangered species, and it
focuses on North American animals. The North American animals are exhibited on
naturalistic grounds which allow a very intimate closeness between the visitors
and the animals. The small loop circuit of the zoo can be completed in less
than an hour. Then there is also the Children’s Farm which has exhibitions of
domestic animals.

end up making the trip all the way out to CoronaPark, Queens
to visit the zoo, you also might be interested in experiencing some other
attractions in the area. There is also a 93 acre man made MeadowLake it is New York City’s largest lake. This is a great
place for boating, fishing, and sailing.
There is
the interactive New York Hall of Science which is located right next door. Then
there’s the Queens Museum of Art, the QueensBotanical Garden,
the Unisphere, World’s Fair towers, an ice skating rink, and a
playground for all children.
